ABOUT

Hello and welcome wherever you are in the world!
SlowstitchRetreat is a methaphor for things I learned to do in the last few decades. Slowstitching included! It's about learning the value of
SLOWING DOWN.
The value of WELL CRAFTED natural textiles in a home or during travel in a unique little place. Well thought out.
The value of taking time to recharge & rethink.
Because sometimes no matter how hard you try the challenges just keep coming at you. And we all need to learn how to offset them. Because living in busy cities can come at a great cost to our personal lives and maintaining BALANCE is a learning process for most of us. Between busy and quiet. Between business and leisure. Between too much and too little. Between creative bustle and nature. And so on...
Textiles, travel, good food, stories and sharing my love of people and places from many parts of the world has been part of my life and it's what I share here too in a way.
SlowstitchRetreat is where the small delights of soaking in the relaxing and soulful vibe of gorgeous textiles are appreciated. Unashamedly maximalist about filling spaces with quality cloth that nurtures our wellbeing (almost exclusively) from wonders of the earth, and delight our senses from all around the world. CREATED WITH THE APPRECIATION OF CRAFTS LIKE WEAVING AND EMBROIDERY. Cotton...linen ...silk...wool... Like people before us used and enjoyed for centuries.
At SlowstitchRetreat the wisdom in creating textiles with craftsmanship is appreciated. Enjoying the rituals of every day life simply, or elaborately with a lot of attention to detail.
The solitude and quietness of being able to sink into a comfortable quality cushion and read is valued. Eating well and travelling often. Creating a beautiful restful retreat is encouraged. Escapism. Shared experiences. We all need those moments. And often!
There's a reason simple pleasures endure the test of time. Let's not let them fade away and celebrate them with mindfully made textiles! Hang out at SlowstitchRetreat from time to time and enjoy the ever growing collection. Do get in touch if you're around the world creating something unique, a place of refuge, something of VRBO or an entire villa perhaps. I can help with curating your textiles and sourcing!
Here's to shifting our abodes and worlds of accommodations during travel experiences toward a more thoughtful, design led and carefully curated experience that benefit our world and our wellbeing more.
